Eligibility Criteria

The following criteria for merit calculation shall be applied by all colleges:

  • Marticulation/SSC/Equivalent: 10%
  • HSSC Pre-Medical/Equivalent: 40%
  • MDCAT: 50%

Eligibility Criteria of Merit:

Only the marks obtained in three elective science subjects Biology, Chemistry, and Physics in F.Sc., A-Level, or an equivalent HSSC qualification shall be considered. The actual marks achieved in these elective subjects must be used for merit calculation, without including any grace marks granted by any authority.

Merit Calculation:

  • HSSC/IBCC HSSC/F.Sc./A-Level: 60%
  • MBBS Passing PM&DC MDCAT: 55%

Requirements:

  • The minimum qualification required for admission to MBBS/BDS programs is F.Sc (Pre-Medical) from the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education Balochistan, Quetta, or any other recognized Board or University in Pakistan.
  • Candidates applying based on “G.C.E,”
    “American/Canadian High School Examinations,” or “A-Level”
    must obtain and submit an equivalence certificate issued by the Chairman of
    I.B.C.C., Islamabad. It is the candidate’s responsibility to ensure the
    submission of this certificate.

  • Admission to MMC, Turbat, is only open to candidates who have qualified for PM&DC MDCAT.
  • Students who have obtained more than 50% marks in their equivalence MDCAT 2024 exam are also eligible for admission.
  • Merely appearing in MDCAT does not guarantee the right to apply for or claim admission to any medical or dental institution.

Merit Formula:

  • The merit for admissions will be calculated as a percentage of marks based on the formula prescribed by PM&DC.

Marks for Hafiz-e-Quran

  • An additional 20 marks will be added to the HSSC/F.Sc. or equivalent marks of a Muslim Hafiz-e-Quran, subject to verification by a committee of eminent Hafiz-e-Quran, constituted by the Chairperson of the Provincial Admission Committee.
  • The committee will conduct a structured test for candidates claiming Hafiz-e-Quran status.
  • Candidates must upload a Hafiz-e-Quran Certificate issued by a registered Madrassa/Institute to be eligible for the test.
  • 100% proficiency in Quran memorization is required at the time of the test to qualify for the additional 20 marks.
  • The decision of the Hafiz-e-Quran Committee shall be final.
  • Only candidates who pass the recitation test, conducted by a panel appointed by the Selection Committee of Medical Colleges of Balochistan, will have 20 marks added to their F.Sc. scores.

Tie-Breaking Criteria

  • If two or more candidates have equal F.Sc. and MDCAT marks:

    1. The candidate with higher MDCAT marks will be ranked higher on merit.
    2. If MDCAT marks are also equal, the candidate with higher F.Sc. marks will be ranked higher.
    3. If both MDCAT and F.Sc. marks are identical, the candidate’s age at the time of submission will be considered.

Other Terms, Conditions and Rules for Admission

  • At the time of submitting admission forms, candidates must provide a copy of their Local/Domicile Certificate issued by the relevant district authorities. If a candidate does not possess their own Local/Domicile Certificate, they may submit a copy of their father’s or mother’s Local/Domicile Certificate, provided their name is recorded on it.
  • If a candidate or their parent(s) is found to possess two Local/Domicile Certificates during the admission process, the candidate will be ineligible for admission. However, if the parents or candidate submit an affidavit confirming that one of the certificates was canceled before the application date, the case may be considered. Failure to provide such an affidavit will result in disqualification. The Admission Committee reserves the right to debar such candidates for up to three academic sessions.
  • The Admission Committee will verify the attached documents and determine whether the candidate belongs to the district against which they have applied. Candidates must accept and abide by the committee’s decision.
  • If, at any stage, it is discovered that a candidate was admitted based on false or incorrect documents or information, their admission will be canceled immediately, all paid fees will be forfeited, and the candidate will be barred from admission for three academic sessions.
  • If a candidate is admitted in violation of the admission rules, their admission will be canceled.
  • Failure to report for admission within two weeks of the final selection announcement will result in automatic cancellation of admission. The vacant seat will then be allocated to the next eligible candidate on the merit list.
  • All medical students must register with PM&DC/PMC within 60 days of the academic session’s commencement. Failure to do so within this period will be the student’s sole responsibility, and the college will not be accountable for any consequences.
  • A candidate who leaves the institution to join another medical college after 30 days from the start of the academic session will be required to pay a fine of Rs. 200,000 to Mekran Medical College (MMC). The vacated seat will be given to the next waiting candidate on merit within 30 days of the session’s commencement.
  • The Selection Committee’s first meeting recommendations will be submitted for approval by the Competent Authority. The Selection Committee must resolve all disputed cases within 30 days of its first meeting. However, decisions related to waiting candidates, unfilled seats (Punjab & Sindh Reciprocal Program), domicile verification, disability cases, etc. will be final and will not require further approval.
  • Candidates who do not take admission despite being selected by the Admission Committee in a particular year will not be granted admission the following year based on their previous selection. They must go through the entire admission process again as a fresh applicant.
  • Candidates who have completed Matriculation and F.Sc. from other provinces must provide documentary proof of reasons beyond their control for not studying in Balochistan. Failure to satisfy the Admission Committee will result in ineligibility for admission.
